Inter Milan have stepped up their interest in Lille and Canada international Jonathan David, whose contract expires at the end of the season, but face competition from a number of clubs.

Italian journalist and transfer expert Matteo Moretto has reported that Inter Milan are making a serious move for in-demand Canadian striker David, who is unlikely to sign a new contract with his current club Lille.

Inter have been keeping a close eye on David’s situation for a long time and it is understand the 24-year-old forward will not sign a new deal, with his current deal set to expire on June 30, 2025, at the end of this season.

Moretto’s report suggests that Inter have made some concrete moves in recent weeks to sign David on a free transfer in the middle of next year, with a pre-contract agreement to be reach from January 1.

However, the competition for David is fierce, with Barcelona and Newcastle United the two clubs that have made serious offers in the past, but more are expect to come in as 2025 approaches.
